RED MEN GREAT COUNCIL OF MARYLAND C.O.P.D. SCHOLARSHIP GOES TO SARA SWARTZ - Nov 07, 2008

The annual C.O.P.D. Red Men scholarship this year has been bestowed on Sara Swartz. She hails from Tribe 84, and her father Clarence "Buddy" Swartz is currently our Sachem. This Scholarship is presented by the Great Council of Maryland and any Red Men member can apply to receive it for their child or grandchild.

The presentation was made by various State Officers which included Great Sachem of Maryland Gardner Cook, Great Senior Sagamore Dave Ruffner, Great Prophet Jack Wright, Mike Conn PGS and Tribe #84 Sachem "Buddy" Swartz

A letter of Thanks was received by Sara Swartz and it is as follows:

"First I want to start by saying thank you to the officers and members of Tribe #84 for submitting my application and want to thank the State members for choosing me as the recipient of your C.O.P.D. scholarship. It is greatly appreciated. With this scholarship, I can help make a difference in the community once I finish my Degree. I am planning to open my own Daycare and have low enough prices that almost any family can afford. I want to do this because I love working with children, and I know how hard it is for parents now to pay for childcare. Once again, thank you very much for choosing me for this Scholarship.

Sachem's Message - Aug 03, 2008

Hello Again,

It’s hard to believe six months have gone by. Our Red Men Club is continuing to do well with the help of our Officers, House Committee and most of all you the MEMBERS. With the economy getting worse your help is needed more than ever. You can help by attending feeds, helping within the clubs’ many activities and most of all, your patronage. It takes active members to keep our Red Men Club successful. There are many activities – indoors and outside—scheduled for the remaining year. Please try to attend as many as possible and even volunteer to help if you can.

Your patience during our renovations is greatly appreciated. Hopefully, there will be very few inconveniences during this time. Just remember how nice our club will be after the renovations. Again, thank you ahead of time for your patience.

The House Committee is trying new ways to make our Red Men Club more successful. Bar Bingo, just for one, on Thursday nights. We are working on more activities for your enjoyment in the future months to come.

Please remember this is your club. Help to continue our success by being an active member, attending and helping with our many functions.
